HOPE CENTRE (HC)

The Khmer Rouge (1975 – 1979) virtually destroyed the nation of Cambodia, leaving citizens with no hope for the future. It is estimated that more than 1.5 million people, almost 25 percent of the population, were systematically killed, or died, during these brutal years. This civil war raged on, and the last of the heavy artillery wasn’t decommissioned until almost 2000. Pol Pot, the architect of this disaster, led the Khmer Rouge until 1997.

The fallout and destruction from the decades of civil unrest left the nation reeling. It was a nation without hope. Asian Outreach began serving in Cambodia in the early 1990’s and we are finally beginning to see hope reach those who need it most. Asian Outreach continues to respond to the overwhelming needs of this great region, but our resources are limited.

Our most recent initiative, The Hope Centre (HC), is currently being constructed. The HC is our response to meet many of these urgent needs. This centre will bring intensive agricultural training and non-formal education to those who need it most. Bringing quality education, micro-finance and resources to the region. The HC will provide families with the knowledge and resources necessary to increase their income, secure their futures and provide many of the necessities that we take for granted.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate now – be sure to specify that you’d like to have your donation applied to support the HC
  • Volunteer and serve the communities that need our help the most

  • Pray for the people and communities that need it most. We firmly believe in the power of prayer.

  • MORE THAN 75% OF THE POPULATION IS UNDER 35 YEARS OLD
  • MAJORITY OF THE CITIZENS LIVE ON LESS THAN $1 PER DAY – THIS IS EXTREME POVERTY
  • CITIZENS HAVE LITTLE, OR NO, ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE, CLEAN WATER AND EDUCATION

Along with these important programs, Asian Outreach’s Community Hope Team brings the good news to every village we work in. We are motivated to “love God and love our neighbors.” Restoring Dignity—means every life has value in God’s eyes. This motivates us to reach out to those who have no hope and no opportunity.

We invite you to join us this Christmas, and help us finish the building of the Hope Centre? We can’t do this without you. Together, we can change lives, and bring hope to Northern Cambodia. If you’re a US Citizen, click here to see how you can help or click here if you’re a Canadian citizen!
